Contact Information: Make It Easy to Reach You

Your contact section is the first thing recruiters see. Make it count!

What to Include

Essential

  • Full name - Use your professional name
  • Phone number - A number you actually answer
  • Email address - Professional email (firstname.lastname@email.com is ideal)
  • Location - City and state/country (no need for full address)

Optional but Helpful

  • LinkedIn profile - Link to your professional profile
  • Portfolio website - If you have one
  • GitHub profile - For tech roles
  • Personal website - If relevant to your field

Pro Tips

Use a professional email - firstname.lastname@gmail.com is fine. party_animal_2015@yahoo.com is not.

Keep your voicemail professional - If someone calls, they should hear a clear, professional greeting

Update your LinkedIn - Make sure it matches your resume

Test your links - Click every link before submitting. Broken links look bad.

Don't include - Your photo (unless applying for modeling/acting), your age, your marital status, or your social media handles (unless professional)

Example Format

John Smith
(555) 123-4567 | john.smith@email.com | New York, NY
linkedin.com/in/johnsmith | github.com/johnsmith

That's it! Simple, clean, and professional.
